Pronunciation madness

by KidVicious100 @ 08/04/2008 - 01:59:52 pm

Help me clear this one up, if nowhere else but in my head.

Primark.

Do you pronounce it "Pree-mark"?

Or do you say "Pry-mark"?

Or do you say something else altogether, like "Jumble Sale"?

I can't tell if the weird pronunciation is a "local" thing or whether I've been saying it wrong for years and no-one's bothered to correct me...in fear of me lashing out and demanding that everyone in the country says it the way I do.

Do share.

I say "Pry-mark", normally followed by "get thee behind me, Satan."

Now, see, I say "Pry-mark" too. But everyone else I know says "Pree-mark". I thought it was just me having a not-so-strong-accent-as-everyone-else moment.

And hey - they do good belts. And cheap jewellery that turns fingers and necks green.

Pryyyy-mark. Tis the Canadian way to say it....
